Strengthening Regulatory Readiness for the Nation’s Largest Independent Broker Dealer
The largest registered independent broker dealer in the United States sought to reinforce its compliance posture through an annual, independent assessment of its regulatory procedures. As part of a proactive governance strategy, the firm wanted to complete a pre-examination review that would not only audit current practices but also identify areas for improvement before regulatory scrutiny intensified. The effort required close coordination with the centralized compliance office and a sharp focus on consistency, validation and policy adherence.
We assembled a team of four regulatory compliance professionals to conduct a thorough and efficient review. Working collaboratively with the client’s centralized compliance function, our team evaluated key processes and procedures and conducted a targeted review of a representative client sample. This approach helped determine whether policies were being consistently applied and properly documented across the population.
At the conclusion of the engagement, we delivered a comprehensive assessment of existing policies, including validation that compliance teams were executing them effectively. We also provided practical, actionable recommendations to the Audit and Risk Committee to further strengthen the governance framework.
The independent review offered clear insights into the firm’s regulatory readiness and increased confidence in its compliance infrastructure. We were later asked to conduct a follow-up engagement to perform the next review.
