Home / Comprehensive Billing Strategy for Revenue Cycle Improvement
A healthcare leader needed a comprehensive strategy to improve and standardize billing, coding, reporting and reconciliation processes for global patients. The client also needed to standardize how physicians receive credit and compensation for work performed.
After documenting current-state processes and reviewing the setup of the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system and AnodynePay solution, we identified dozens of problematic areas related to processing charge capture forms from clinics. We identified quick fixes for improvement and provided options for future enhancements to streamline and improve coding, reporting and reconciliation. In addition, we developed change management strategies to support the process.
We offered 55 recommendations to mitigate revenue leakage due to charge capture issues, along with a suggested priority order for implementation. We also developed playbooks to standardize best practices, which improved the performance of the charge capture team. In all, we identified approximately $200k in missed revenue opportunities.
